Learning Renewal in the Year of the Fire Horse!
The 2026 Year of the Fire Horse represents a powerful, once-in-60-years cycle focused on intense renewal, rapid transformation, and bold, forward-moving energy. This year merges the Horse’s energy of freedom with Fire’s passion, which helps to drive change in projects, personal growth, and societal structures. The last year of the Fire Horse was in 1966!
According to the Chinese zodiac, we we have shifted from the reflective year of the Wood Snake [yin], a year of shedding and releasing into this year’s Fire Horse [yang] a year of intense renewal, transformation and moving forward. Fire acts as a purifier, burning away the old to make room for innovation and new beginnings. There is intense energy for change and renewal — breaking from the past, and embracing a fresh, bold trajectory.
Horses are wonderful at demonstrating how to tap into the energy flow of renewal. When watching equines, you’ll notice that they naturally make assessments and shifts — staying in alignment with the flow of energy. They take in energy, feel it, and then they let it go. Once they’ve let go of that energy, it’s gone and they are ready to receive the next moment fresh and new.
Being as sensitive to energy as they are, the equines are also pros at picking up on when we humans are hanging on to and not processing old energy. If we’re not in alignment with our own natural flow of energy and are blocking emotions or living outside of the moment, they can feel it and they let us know by their reactions and the way they respond to us. We see it time and time again, someone will be working with a horse or donkey and will hit a roadblock. The more they keep trying the same tactic, sitting in the same energy, the more the equine will resist. However, once they take a moment to pause, let go of old energy and breathe in the present moment – everything changes. As if by magic, the horse miraculously responds. When really, they are just responding to the now unblocked truthful energy that has begun to flow again. So, maybe in a way, it is magic. The magic of renewal.
