For individuals recovering from addiction, working with horses offers a powerful opportunity to re-connect and gain awareness of self and others, face fears, and engage in activities that require the embodiment of focus, intention, and commitment.
Because horses are completely authentic and non-judgmental with what they experience, individuals in recovery are able to quickly develop a trusting relationship, increasing their ability to learn and change.
Our professionals design activities that parallel challenges in recovery and the horses provide participants with immediate feedback about what is working for them and what is not. Clients then have the opportunity to create change in the moment – experiencing and embodying new ways of being and relating.
Areas that are commonly addressed include:
- Coping Skills
- Boundaries
- Assertiveness
- Trust
- Powerlessness
- Mindfulness
- Frustration tolerance
- Relationship dynamics
Our recovery groups typically meet for 2 hours, but can be customized to meet your needs – contact us for more information.
