Do you ever need to tap into your creativity at the office and find it elusive?
Creativity is not an on-demand service, and rarely can we predict when it is going to strike. Sometimes, it can be quite challenging to get inspired! However, scientific research has found a relationship between a positive mood and creative thinking. In other words, we are more likely to creatively solve problems when we are in a good mood.
Here are a few suggestions that we hope will inspire you to get into a ‘good mood groove’ at the office:
Walking meetings – Instead of a seated meeting at your desk or in a conference room, host a walking meeting either outside or inside the office. According to a 2014 Stanford University of 176 college students and other adults, creative output increases by an average of 60% when people are walking.
Listen to your favorite music – If you can’t do this at your desk, utilize your commute time to set the tone for the day.
Change decor in your office space – If you have your own space at work, think about changing up the visual space around you. Add some personality with a potted plant, photos or a paperweight and change these items often. Change your desktop background to your devices, your ringer to your work phone or buy some new office supplies. Bringing new energy to your workspace can also bring with it inspiration!
Watch some funny videos – Who knew? Those funny cat (or horse) videos do add value to the workplace!
